About me
Miranda Bright serves as a Human Sciences and Education Career Field Specialist at the Nebraska Department of Education, supporting Family and Consumer Sciences, Human Services, Education and Training, and Law and Public Safety programs. In this role, she leads the development and implementation of state standards, delivers professional learning, provides technical assistance to educators, and supports career and technical student organizations, including FCCLA and Educators Rising. She also conducts Perkins grant monitoring and builds partnerships across education, industry, and community organizations. Prior to her current role, Miranda taught Family and Consumer Sciences at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. Her teaching emphasized hands-on learning and gamification to enhance student engagement. Miranda began her career with Nebraska Extension, developing and implementing youth programming focused on healthy living and contributing to curriculum development and program evaluation. She holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Child, Youth, and Family Studies from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and an Education Specialist degree from Doane University, and is currently pursuing her doctorate at Doane University. She has been recognized with state and national honors for teaching excellence, leadership in Family and Consumer Sciences, and Extension programming. She enjoys spending time with her husband, Frank, her son, Cyrus, and their corgis, Luna and Magus.
