Nebraska Career and Technical Education Conference 2026

Want to learn more about the Family and Consumer Sciences Teachers of Nebraska? Members and not yet members are invited to come to our business meeting to see our Year in Review, go through FCSTN business, and hear about the FCSTN Program of Work for the 2026-2027 year.  

Today’s students learn in more ways than one. This session showcases how a blended culinary curriculum—featuring podcasts, instructional videos, practice certification exams, and digital recipes—can strengthen engagement and retention. Attendees will also participate in a palate test that sparks discussion around artificial additives and food literacy. The Introduction to Culinary Arts Management, Second Edition (Coursebook and Workbook) will be provided for attendees!

Students mirror the expectations and authenticity of their teachers. This final session explores how certification preparation, real-world standards, and meaningful projects work together to build confidence. Using examples of genuine Nebraska hospitality and community-centered teaching, participants will leave energized to lead programs that truly inspire and change lives.

Do you have picky students? Encourage your students to use ALL of their senses as they evaluate the quality and appeal factors of the foods they prepare. Help them use descriptive words to expand on their food experiences, and hopefully, their palate.  Then identify your expectations for their willingness to try a variety of foods created in your classes.

Ready to bring 'Unified' to your kitchen or lab? This session is a deep dive into the 'how-to' of launching a Unified FCS course. From navigating master schedules and securing funding to pairing peer partners and modifying hands-on projects, we’ll cover the nuts and bolts of program startup. Whether you're a veteran educator or a new advocate, you'll gain the tools and templates needed to create a classroom where every student—regardless of ability—can thrive, cook, and lead. This is an opportunity to develop resources for curriculum, peer-mentorship and the measurable impact of the school community. 

This interactive and fast-paced session offers the opportunity to network, connect, and share best practices. Each table, led by a teacher or specialist, will focus on a different best practice topic related to Family and Consumer Sciences, Education and Training, Human Services, Hospitality and Tourism, or Law and Public Safety.
